Marie,

This posting is great! I love the tips for online promotion, especially the one on creating a website for the book and author. Online promotion, I think, really helps a book take off. I think the key is to be patient, as it takes time and a lot of hard work to promote a work. Gaining readership through leaving comments is also a good way, as the tips state.

Nice article and thank you for the sound tips!

Excellent blog Marie and an excellent resource - I look forward to lots more tips.

Another good idea is to get an already published author to write a forward for your book. If they are well known you can leverage this to greatly increase the audience you will reach with your book.

Great tips! Without realizing these online moves have worked for others, I've used--and benefited from--every one of them. Initially I was shy about promoting my own books, but once I gained confidence in my own abilities through online interaction, I began speaking on topics related to my books. I've placed a pile of my books at the back of the room where I spoke for people to peruse after the talk.

An online tip to add to your impressive list is to ask a blogger in your field whom you respect if you can write a guest blog post, and/or ask if the blogger will post about your book and give away a free one to a lucky reader. Another idea that worked for me is to start writing online articles in your field using sites like ezinearticles.com, with links back to your website and/or blog. These types of promotion can provide the jump-start needed to gain more confidence in your own marketing abilities.
